Lover Of Books ~

“Let every bookworm, when in any fragrant, scarce, old tome he discovers a sentence, a story, an illustration, that does his heart good, hasten to give it”

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

With all that has occurred in the last two and a half years concerning Charlie and my attending school, I haven't really had time to read for pleasure. Whenever I came across a book I thought looked interesting, I would get it, only to place it upon a growing stack of books. However, this summer has come as a treat, for I have had the time to read and it's been so nice to start a book and not have things float into my head of what 'I need to do' or the 'what ifs' that keep me distracted from what I'm reading.

I have books that are fun reads and well... books to help you with your diet and health that I have referred to from time to time; so many good recipes. WOMEN FOOD AND GOD. What can I say... there isn't a page that isn't underlined and a note on the side margin. This book is filled with "aha" moments and is a process. Beyond good and is a must read! A lot of books on relationships with women and friendship. I find women mysterious and need help understanding us too. Interesting. These books have given me such good insight on female relationships. Really good ~ I needed this. In addition to reading books, I am also listening to an audio book The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I finally read the Twilight saga. As soon as I was on the last chapter of Eclipse, I had my son and daughter run to the book store and get me the last book of the saga New Dawn. It was really good! So good, I read all four books in ten days. What a page turner! I was so thankful all the books were out by the time I was able to read them; I can't even imagine having to wait for the next book to come out! Charlie started to get irritated and I reminded him, "I haven't gotten to do this in yadda-yadda-yadda years. Jeez ~ kill joy!" I found myself sneaking a quick reading of a page when he would go outside or was busy with something. I think every one has had a Jacob and Edward (minus the blood sucking and turning into wolves) in their lives. Oh! And I love the character Alice! So so good!

I love how books take you to another place in time, help to shed light on some matters and also to help you live a more fulfilling life. They open your mind and help you develop awareness, not only regarding yourself, but the world at large as well.

What are you reading?
Any suggestions?

  1. I finished the series of "No #1 Ladies Detective Agency" and love you I was glad all the books were out when I started, and a friend let me borrow hers for the duration.

I'm three books into another series now called "The Mitford Series" by Jan Karon. About a preacher and his wife in a small Hughson! I'm really relating.....!!!

  3. Love to read anytime, but I always choose special books to take when we go away. I just read a great one which I blogged about today, I think you would like it.
It's call The Forgotten Garden, by Kate Morton.

  4. Did you see the series, " The Pillars of the Earth"? It was on the Starz Channel. Sandy and I also enjoyed the the series, "The No. 1 Detective Agency". They were both short series. The detective was in Africa, and was very interesting, showing the African modern culture. Fascinating!
