Empties
EMPTIES COMING BACK
have you ever sat by the railroad track
and watched the emptys cuming back?
lumbering along with a groan and a whine,-
smoke strung out in a long gray line
belched from the panting injun's stack
- just emptys cuming back.
i have-and to me the emptys seem
like dreams i sometimes dream-
of a girl-or munney-or maybe fame-
my dreams have all returned the same,
swinging along the homebound track
-just emptys cuming back.ANGELO DE PONCIANO*note~ I was driving along the train tracks and noticed the graffiti painted on the empty cars. With my love for mermaids, I had to snap a picture .
Excellent poem!

ReplyDelete:) i love train grafitti ~ i don't know what it is but perhaps those that take the time and effort to create art on a train want to create something that looks beautiful traveling around the countryside ...
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful photo : )
Angela: I guess you would just have to call that "Box Car Canvas".
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a very lovey mermaid. Amazing where you can find talent. Would like to know who painted it, wouldn't you?
The poem is so perfect with the art.
Having grown up close to a lot of little railroad towns, trains were always something we waited upon to pass. I well remember this sort of car rumbling and rattling past ready to accept it load of wheat in the spring and corn, or stopping to pick up the cream cans. Wow! Took me back.
ReplyDeleteShe is inspiring! So are the words.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat post. I love it!
I am with you on that one, I love mermaids too. They are so FREE!!!!
xoxo
I've seen lots of graffiti covered boxcars but never anything like this. What a lucky find. Real art.
