Books!

My daughter and I had a chance to take a drive to our local Barnes and Nobles Book store. I had quite a few books on my list, which has been growing each day, and wanted to pick up a few of them. My very thoughtful daughter, Diandra, surprised me with one she saw, knowing that I would love to read it if I had known about it.

I got three books of poems I have had my eye on for quite some time.

A book I came across on a blog I like to visit, looked so interesting. It's just the kind of insightful book that I am needing to read right now in my life! It is called Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

The book my daughter gave me is a novel called The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. Diandra and I are actually going to do a little "mother-daughter book club" with this book; she got herself a copy as well!

I can not wait to dive into these!

What are you reading right now?

  1. I´ve bought three books this week and reading them now: The Goddess Guide, Notes from a big country and Succulent Wild Women. I'll write about it on my blog later :)

    Happy reading!

  2. Good Morning Angela:
You and Diandra have such a sweet relationship...~I can't think of anything more fun that "book shopping" with a daughter. Thanks for the tips on some good books! And you answered my question about your poetry! I think I'll go find a good book and dive in.
    Love you,

  3. Wanda! I have collected poems since I was little. I still have my first book of poems, as far back from when I was a child.... maybe eight years old?! I will tear them out of the news paper, jot them down onto napkins or old receipts. I will find them in coat pockets, slipped into books, tucked away in my sock and lingerie drawers. I also have my Grams journals.

    Happy book hunting!

  4. Oh, I'm planning on a B & N run myself on Monday morning. I'll look for the book you mentioned. I love to read, even with 2 Bible studies right now, I find some time to read each day! Is there anything more wonderful than a B & N store with a coffee shop? Maybe heaven!

  5. I LOVE books although I haven't read one in a while now! I want to look for a Mary Oliver book and soon! Isn't it a great way to relax and unwind from busy days??!!I have been reading the little book, "The Prayer of Jabez" and also reading "Grace For The Moment" a gift a dear sweet friend gave to me before she passed away. *sigh* Life is so sad sometimes! Coming home from church I saw a red vehicle like she used to drive and I caught myself looking for her in the driver's seat! She probably got a kick out of that! I can hear her laughing about it! Life is so fleeting, we must enJOY every second somehow! Impossible but a sweet dream! xoCinda

  6. I am reading an in depth study of the book of Luke. You have to have known me for the last 10 or so years to know how funny that is to me. But I'm totally loving it. I also have 'Guns Germs & Steel' to finish. I love that book. I just finished 'The Power of a Praying Wife' (another funny one if you know my past) and I will probably reread it again immediately. And I'm reading lots and lots of blogs!!

  7. Ohhhh....how I'd love to have an afternoon at the bookstore! The closest one is about 1/2 an hour away! Right now I am reading (yawn) 'Revolutions & Revolutionary Movements' which is an old college text-book...lol, really I should just take the trip, but I know I'd get lost for hours and probably spend a fortune!

  8. I actually just finished Eat, Pray, Love. I would love to know what you think of it when you finish.

Right after that, I read The Other Boleyn Girl, which I loved.

I'm about to start on Steinbeck's classic East of Eden. Believe it or not, I've never read it. I can't wait!

    Books.... mmmmmmm.... :)
