Advisory

The front page of our local News Paper read this morning...

MOTHER NATURE BLUSTERS INTO CALIFORNIA
Storms Pack a Punch!

A parade of storms is expected to pour up to 5 inches of rain on the Northern San Joaquin Valley, drop as much as 10 feet of snow at higher elevations in the Sierra and buffet the state with wind ranging from 35 mph to 150 mph, according to warnings from the state Office of Emergency Services, local public safety officials and weather forecasters.

This is what it was like outside at 11:00 A.M.

Here inside my house, listening to the sound track to Pride and Prejudice (sorry about the shaking, I was daydreaming that I was watching Darcy walk across the pasture to me... my heart was racing a little ~ hee hee). It has really been this dark in the house all day.

AND then...

I talked to my daughter Diandra about walking on the treadmill today; she had agreed. As I was going to work on my post sharing my day with you, she came in the room irritated saying, "I am NOT going to walk in the garage with the blinking strobe light (my husband has to fix the light; it is going out) it is boring! I would rather walk in the rain." I asked her if she had gone outside yet, she said no. I asked her to check the mail. She came back in, and had decided that she wouldn't walk in the rain. Irritated she walked back to the garage for the treadmill. I hear the door slam. A few minutes later, I heard it open, then slam again. She then proceeded to walk back and tell me she was going to walk in the rain. (Yes, she is crazy). I then said "Well, then I will go with you." I am thinking to myself, 'What good mom would let her daughter walk alone in this? I would never forgive myself if something happen to her.' Did I mention that she turned 21, for those of you thinking, 'Well you're the mom, why didn't you just tell her she could not walk out in the STORM!' Yes... well, that worked when she was the age 4-20. She is feeling a little more independent these days. Did I also mention that we both have had a school break going on 2 weeks? Need I say more? SO, we got all geared up to walk in this storm. I told her as I was putting layers on that she did know that she was making our little town talk about us, that they were going to say "did you see those two crazy women walking in this storm?" As we were walking against the wind, I had to keep my head down so that the rain was not stinging my face. I thought 'the news channel did say not to drive if you didn't have to. They didn't say anything about walking.' The rain coat's were not keeping us dry... 'of course not silly, they are only made to get you from point A to point B. Not to walk in the rain! WE need rain slickers!' "Is it hailing?" I asked Diandra, she said "No." I said, "Are you sure? Watch the rain drops. They are huge drops and they are hitting my face hard. Look! They are hitting the street and even rolling for a while."

  1. Well Angela, I certainly don't feel bad now sending you off to your car....I was worried for you for that short trip...Now, that sweet and crazy daughter has you out facing the storm, wind, rain and hail.!!!! I shoul have kept you a little longer, and maybe put in a movie and heat the tea Kettle!! But then Pastor D was in and out...So I guess I will just have to agree with Gudl and say I glad you survived!!
What fun our short little visit was today...Let's do it again.
    Love and Hugs

  2. MOM...come ON. If you're gunna tell them that "I'm the crazy one" at least tell the WHOLE truth! You were gunna walk on the treadmill too, and you also said you didn't want to walk on it. We'd probably have a seizure by the first 20 minutes anyway, from the blinking light...So, if I'm crazy for not wanting to look at the same wall for the duration of one walk, then call me crazy! At least I know I'm not a lone!

  4. Psalm 104:4
4 He makes winds his messengers,
    flames of fire his servants.

    Psalm 148:8
8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding..

    Matthew 8:27
27The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"

    Luke 8:25
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.

25"Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples.

In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

    Job 38:1
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm....

    Nahum 1:3
3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.

    Zechariah 10:1
1 Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone.

This is what storms remind me of...

  10. As a young girl I used to deliberately miss the bus from school when it rained just so I could skip home in the rain and splash in the puddles. Good clean fun.
You two are really cute and I think the Kraziness might run in the family.;)

  11. I love walking in storms. But I like to stay close to shelter. And I don't go out in lightening. But love walking in rain or snow. But that sounded PAINFUL!!!!
