Thank You For The Chores...
Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes; we have plenty of good food to eat. Thank you for this big pile of dirty clothes; we have them to wear. Thank you for these unmade beds; they were all comfortable last night.
Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that has served us faith-fully for a long time. Our family is grateful for the tall grass that needs mowing; we all enjoy our private yard. Thank you for that slamming door; the children are healthy and able to run and play.
Lord, the presence of all the chores awaiting me says that you have richly blessed this family. I shall do them all gratefully.

I try to keep this poem in mind as soon as I start to grumble when the chores need to be done. It changes my whole attitude, the grumble quickly turns into a happy tune. I am so grateful for all of my chores.
Yes... all of them.
:)
That´s wonderful!

Amen to that! Good reminder...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful reminder of
ReplyDeletethe blessings we have!
This is a lovely post Angela Marie.
ReplyDeleteI always think of things in this way.
I stood behind a lady in the supermarket grumbling about the amount of bags she had to carry, and wondered if she was thankful that she had food, and could afford so many bags of groceries..?
Being thankful for everything is sometimes a real pain, until we realize how much freedom is in it. And then, well we can count it all joy, can we not?
ReplyDeleteHalleluyah!
ReplyDeleteThis is the truth. Gratitude!!!

ReplyDeleteAngela, My mother recited that poem to me over and over, when I was young. It made a great impact in my life...changing the way we think about chores and work!!
