Holding My Tongue!

cross on a sand dune in Carmel

My daughter Diandra and I went to church this morning. We actually were ahead of schedule this time and looked forward to getting a good seat. As I was driving, I could see a BIG tonka yellow colored truck in my rear-view mirror, right on my tail. As we were driving down the one way street, he changed lanes but was still behind my car in the other lane. I needed to get over also into the same lane, and therefore slowed down so that he would go ahead of me. Only, he would not. So I picked up my speed and changed lanes. Again, he was right on my tail; I could only see his truck in my mirror. I finally said, "ENOUGH!" and slowly pulled over to the right of the street so that he could drive. Now, I was driving behind him, from a distance, I might add. I looked over at my daughter and said, "I bet that ******* is going to pull into the church parking lot!" She just shot me a look, as if God, Himself was just letting me know through a look and she didn't have to say a word. I knew I was no better than that driver. We got out of the car and were walking at a distance behind them (the diver). As we got a good seat, I spotted them in another pew and just looked at them. Okay, maybe it was a little glare. Diandra looked at me and then followed my stare and saw where it had ended, she whipped her head at me and sternly said, "STOP it!" It was hard to let it go. We all began to sing, and through the melody of song and worship time, I did let it go. I was upset at myself for my choice words, but God has a gentle way of reminding us to hold our tongues.

  1. The Holy Spirit at work in our lives isn't always comfortable! In my life it never is as He's always busting me on some such thing. Thank God he cares enough to bust on that stuff.

  2. Sweet Angela ~~ somehow can't imagine bad words coming out of your mouth.... but on the other hand... So glad you are going to church! I quote this verse to myself quite often....

"May the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, my Lord and Savior..."

You would really get practice if you were driving the freeways down here~~~ (((smile)))

    Love and Hugs my Darling....
Wanda MOM ((I know I sound like a mom is this comment...sorry, but that's what I am!!

  3. well I am sure that the good Lord forgave you! so don't be so hard on yourself!

    hugs and love

  4. Ah, but the driver never heard your words. And god would understand I suspect.

besides, who's perfect? are we made to be imperfect? isn't that part of the fun - and the mystery - and the source of growth too?
