Waiting and Wishing
I Loiter by this surging sea,
Here, by this surging, sooming sea,
Here, by this wailing, wild-faced sea,
Dreaming through the dreamy night;
Yearning for a strange delight!
Will it ever, ever, ever fly to me,
By this surging sea,
By this surging, sooming sea,
By this wailing, wild-faced sea?
I know some gentle spirit lives,
Some loving, lonely spirit lives,
Some melancholy spirit lives,
Walking o'er the earth for me,
Searching round the world for me!
Will she ever, ever, ever hither come?
Where the waters roam,
Where the sobbing waters roam!
Where the raving waters roam!
All worn and wasted by the storms,
All gapped and fractured by the storms,
All split and splintered by the storms,
Overhead the caverns groan,
Gloomy, ghastly caverns groan!~
Will she ever, ever, ever fill this heart?
Peace, O longing heart!
Peace, O longing, beating heart!
Peace, O beating, weary heart!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have to sometimes drag my daughter Diandra places. This time she was excited to be dragged along. We went to Down town Turlock. The Berg building you see here is where my mom worked for years until they got a new store for JCPenney. I have so many memories coming to this store to buy a lot of our school clothes and seeing my mom at work was always a treat! I lived with my dad at the time and she would always be so thrilled to see me and introduce me to her coworkers and costumers. I then would hear stories about my mom and how much they loved her. It helped me at times to see my mom in a different way. Just another facet. I love this old building, and I hope they never tear it down. This building, as you can see, has homing pigeons who have taken residency there. They live on top! giggle. Not inside.Back to our venture. We first got to down town Turlock and I started snapping away at this old building. We then made our way to the old Mercantile building that was across the corner (This is where I got a lot of my Dittos, ladies, you know what I am talking about!). It is also no longer a clothing store, but a lot of little good sized partitioned rooms that make into little stores. They have a little cafe, the hippest Consignment store where you can find one of kind items that you just won't see other girls wearing (you start to feel like a clone). They also have a bead store called "My Thing," that has been around for ages.... uh hmm, you would often find me there when I was in Jr. High School. They moved their store from across the street when someone else bought the building. Diandra and I went in "My Thing," picked out our beads, gems, stones or whatever our hearts desire was and played for a couple of hours. Between the two of us we made seven pairs of ear rings. I have been telling her to do this on her own, but she would have nothing to do with it.... you should have seen her! She was enjoying herself immensely! Sometimes us Mamma's just have to walk our children through the steps! Even at an older age.We worked up an appetite after all of that beading. We then went to a little bistro that I love that is also on Main Street called Bistro 234. After lunch, we went our separate ways ... she going into the Family Bible Center, and I going into Lily's Emporium. At the end of this store are antiques where they have a book bin. You will find old to new books there. Of course all the treasure hunting you can also stand. In the front part of the store you will find, sweets, candles vintage looking fabric, beautiful things for your house. It is truly one of my favorite stores around Turlock!
The first Robert and Josephine
The second Robert and Josephine
My Grandparents names were Robert and Josephine. My dad was named after my Grandpa and Robert was named after my daddy. When Rob and Nessa sent out their wedding invitation, my Aunt's all noticed Nessa's full name. Josephine Vanessa. Nessa doesn't like Josephine, she thinks it is an old ladies name. I told her to think of it the way Leonardo DiCaprio says it as he is standing behind Kate Winslet during the famous scene in the movie The Titanic. "Come Josephine my flying machine, going up she goes... up she goes"... then the first kiss. She just giggled and shook her head no, she wasn't going for it. But! she would have to see the Titanic again and check that scene out. I love that name and so does Diandra, who at one time had even planned on naming her daughter Josephine and calling her Joey for short. I think that is adorable. My family was thrilled that we had another Robert and Josephine in the family and felt like it was a good sign being that my grandparents were married for a long time. At the wedding we all mentioned it and felt like Grandpa and Grandma were pretty tickled about it. They have both passed away, although we all felt as if they we were with us.I think that my grandma would beg to differ on that old lady name too... umm there is also Josie and The Pussy Cat Dolls!*If you would like to read more about my Grandma and Grandpa you can go here.

Diandra recently sent these pictures of herself to me. She took them goofing around while waiting in a parking lot for an appointment. I love my baby girl!
She is going to kill me. But, I just had to share! Don't you agree?
This summer has been a little hard one for us. After school and dance is over, she becomes quite bored... and then grumpy! GRRRR! Being that she works at the dance studio, it is shut down for the summer after recital. Unfortunately, during school, she has a job and is very busy with it and school. While everyone was getting a summer job, she was really busy during the month of June due to dance. Her dad tells her to just enjoy her summer and do fun things... she needs and likes to be busy. Her dad also worries about her wearing herself out burning the candle at both ends. I have to agree. So, even though this summer has been a tough one for her and I am getting more and more chewed on, I have really enjoyed our evening walks and worry that when school and dance starts back up, I am going to lose my walking Buddie. That makes me sad because it has been our time to share, compare and bounce thoughts off onto one another. I have also dragged her to things that I really enjoy doing. She goes kicking and screaming, but once we are there and my nerves are shot, she really does enjoy herself. If she would just listen to me....

Our Nessa is coming to California for three weeks! She flew into Sacramento where three of her sister's live and will be bouncing back and fourth between them visiting for a little over a week... then, she comes to her mom and I for the remanding time. I have been getting her room ready and Diandra and I have been cleaning house. We are all so excited to see her! After Rob and Nessa got married, she had to come back and stay with us for a couple of months due to some classes and credits she didn't want to lose. To make the transition easier on her we decided to paint the room so that she didn't feel like she was in a "boys" room with pirate decor. I wanted her to feel like it was her room. I asked her to pick out a color; she chose turquoise. I went to Wal-Mart and looked at every turquoise color swatch they had. While she was with Rob in Nebraska, we all had a part of the transformation of her room. When she had finally arrived, she hardly recognized it as she had seen the before and now the after. She loved it! We put photo's of her and Rob around the room, left picture frames empty so that she could fill them up with her own memories. When she found out Rob's leave for over seas came sooner than what we had anticipated, she left immediately to be with him. It was hard for these Newly weds to be apart during that time. I was blessed to have her here with us though, being that we all got to know each other on a more personal level. I have always thought about what my relationship would be like with my children's husband and wives. I would take mental notes about it and know what I would do and not do from watching other in-law relationships. I have told Rob over and over how I feel like Nessa is the best gift he could have given me.I will never forget at one of our family dinner nights, our grand-daughter Natalie would always come home with us and spend the night. Nessa would spend some personal quality time getting to know her. I was working on a post for my blog and Nattie came up and hugged me whispering, "She's crazy about me!" I didn't know if I had heard that right, so I asked her, "What did you say?" She said it again beaming with a smile from ear to ear. I gave Nattie a squeeze and said, "She sure is honey!" I thought about that for a long time. Nessa had a quality about her that made you feel special when you walked away from her. It warmed my heart over! Shouldn't every child feel special when they walk away from you? Nessa is a gift that doesn't stop giving. Our family is truly blessed to have her in it!
there just aren't any words.
Do you ever feel that way?
